In 2003, University Commons kicked off a revitalization of the University Commons Neighborhood in Chicago’s lower West side. Today the University Commons neighborhood is a thriving community of 1,800 residents.

The University Commons Neighborhood Association is funded by the Master Board of the the University Commons Condominium Association.

From cauliflower to condominiums

The University Commons Condominiums started as the city’s produce market called the South Water Market, after moving from downtown. The original downtown market was The busy produce market was active from the 1920’s until 2000.

Our mission

University Commons Neighborhood Association’s mission is to connect and build the University Commons Community through various activities for adults and children, including social, volunteer and charity activities.
